Basic Information

There are two (2) sets of home school procedures for the school year.  One set is for Independent Home Schools and one set is for Church-Related Home Schools.

Parents can now register with State recognized church-related schools to conduct home schools in grades K-12 (under certain conditions) because of a change in home school law.  These home schools are called "church-related home schools" to distinguish them from home schools that register only with the local system.  Please note the differences between the two (2) groups as outlined in the procedures.

Enrollment of Home School

Registration for a home school program must be by August 1 of each year.  The law has been amended to allow home school students to register between August 1 and September 1 with a late fee of $20 per week or portion thereof up to a maximum of $80 per family.  The superintendent can waive the September 1 deadline and fee with just cause.  Both types of home schools must register with the local school system.  Independent Home Schools must register for all grades; Church-Related Home School Students must register if between grades 8-12.
