Student Insights is sponsoring a scholarship for high school seniors. There will be 1-$4000, 2-$1000, and 4-$500 scholarships given out to seniors planning to attend a 4-year college or community college. Go to the website at www.student-view.com The deadline to complete application is April 22, 2010.
LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS:
The Marilyn Davis Music Scholarship is available to Sullivan Co. or Washington Co. students who demonstrate musical ability on the piano and who plan to study piano during their undergraduate career from an accredited, non-profit college or university. Application packets must be received by East Tennessee Foundation or postmarked no later than Feb. 12, 2010. Pick up applications in the guidance office.
The Sandy Bayne Scholarship for students that have a parent, grandparent, legal guardian active in the Johnson City Education Association. Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned no later than Friday, March 26, 2010. Pick up applications in the guidance office.
The Vanbrocklin Scholarship is now available in the guidance office. This is for a senior to use for study at a 4-year college. Selection will be based on financial need, desire to major in music and/or science, character, and academic record. Applications must be returned by 3:00 on Friday March 26, 2010.
The Gollong Science/Technology scholarship is now available for any senior that plans to study in the field of engineering. Selection will be based on the student’s academic status, responses to essay questions, and interview performance. Applications are available in the counseling office and must be submitted by Friday, March 26, 2010.
The Lorenzo Wyatt Scholarship is now available in the guidance office. The selected senior must be planning to study at a 4 year college and have attended North Side Elementary. Applications must be returned in the guidance office by 3:00 on Friday March 26, 2010. You may pick up an application in the guidance office.
National College of Business & Technology is accepting applications for the Chairman’s and President’s Scholarship. There will be up to 20 Chairman’s Scholarships of $2500 and up to President’s Scholarships of $1500 will be awarded to students attending any of National’s 26 campuses in Virginia, Kentucky, Tenn., Ohio, and Indiana. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2010. Please pick up information in the guidance office.
The East Tenn. Engineering Association id offering a scholarship of $600-$1500 for students interested in pursuing an engineering degree. There is an essay to complete and all applications must be submitted no later than Feb. 26, 2010. Pick up information in the guidance office.
The Eighth Annual National CO-OP Scholarship is now available for students desiring to enter one of the National Commission Partner Institutions. You mat review these schools by picking up the applications in guidance. Deadline for application is Feb. 15, 2010.
Cherokee Elementary is offering 2 $500 scholarships to former Cherokee Elem students. The Wendell Messimer and the Barry Tolley Scholarships are now available for Seniors. You may pick up further information in the guidance office. They must be submitted NO LATER than March 12, 2010.
The "Pride of the Hill" Scholarship is available for a graduating senior. This $1000 scholarship must be submitted NO LATER than March 19, 2010. Please pick up further information in the guidance office.
The 2010 Aerojet Scholarship Program if offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. You must have a 3.0 GPA, involved in extra-curricular and community service activities, has an economic need and recommended by a high school counselor or teacher. Deadline for application is March 15, 2010. See your counselor for further information and pick up application in the guidance office.
The Army ROTC National Scholarship is now available. This scholarship is for full tuition and fees at any university with an Army ROTC program, $1200 per year for books, and a monthly stipend of $300. You may apply online at www.goarmy.com/rotc/highschoolstudents.jsp
KFC Colonel’s Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program. Awards are up to $20, 000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board. To qualify you must have a minimum GPA of 2.75, enroll in an in-state university, plan to pursue bachelor’s degree, be a US citizen and demonstrate financial need. The online application will be available from Dec. 1-Feb 10, 2010 at www.kfcscholars.org or call 1-866-KFC-7240.
U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program will be giving 40 $1000 scholarships awarded by a random drawing, no essays. This program will run through March. Apply online at www.usbank.com/studentloans
The University of Tenn/Chattanooga is offering the Grote Chemistry Scholarship in the amount of $14,000 ($3500/year and renewable for 4 years). The potential student must be admitted to UTC for Fall 2010 with a GPA of 3.5 and a 26 ACT. If interested you may apply online at www.utc.edu/Chemistry/Student/scholarship/Grote/GroteInfo.php. Deadline for applying is Feb. 1, 2010.

Teen Town “Pride of the Hill” scholarship is now available. Application deadline is March 19, 2010. The amount of this scholarship is $1000 for a one-time award. The application, guidelines, and deadlines may be found at www.easttennesseefoundation.org. You must submit your application yourself and MUST be in the foundation office by March 19, 2010.
AXA Achievement Scholarship is offering $10,000 or $25,000 if you are active in your community, led a project that benefits others, overcome a personal challenge. You may see your counselor or download application at www.axa-achievement.com
The National Commission for Cooperative Education will be awarding 170 merit-co scholarships of $6000 each. You may find additional information and complete application by visiting the NCCE website at www.co-op.edu
The Army ROTC National Scholarship is accepting applications for full tuition at any university with Army ROTC program. You may receive $1200 per year for books, and a monthly stipend at $300 for freshmen up to $500 for Seniors.
