The Tennessee State Board of Dentistry approves the Registered Dental Assistant class. Upon completion of the 20-week program, students are eligible to take the State Board Examination to become registered in the state of Tennessee. Upon successfully passing the Sate Board Exam, students are qualified to practice dental assisting in the state. Class includes:

Chair-Side Assisting

All aspects of dentistry including, but not limited to anatomy and physiology; tooth morphology; infection control and restorative dentistry.

Radiology

All areas of radiology in the dental office including periapical radiographs; full mouth radiographic surveys and extra oral radiographs.


*Current CPR card will be required by the completion of this course.



Candidates for the Registered Dental Assistant class must complete an application, which is included in this catalog. Applicants will need to send in the tuition fee with their registration form. Classes meet Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Tuition is $260.00.

The books required for the class are:

Essentials of Dental Radiography” by Johnson 9th Ed.

Modern Dental Assisting” (w/ workbook) by Bird/Torres

The Complete Review of Dental
Assisting” by Andujo

Mosby’s Dental Dictionary” by Zwemer (optional)


Fifteen applicants are selected for the class from the first applications received based on earliest postmark.


Our next 20-week session will be scheduled to start in January 2009.







The Tennessee State Board of Dentistry states that though the previously required 96 hours of observation in a dental office are no longer necessary, this course is to remain in effect. Participating in this course will still allow you to apply to take the state board in order to become a Registered Dental Assistant, as well as receive a certification in Radiology.
