ACCOUNTING
This
course teaches the fundamentals of analyzing and journalizing daily
business transactions, posting to the general ledger, preparing
worksheets and financial statements for a proprietorship and closing
books for the accounting year. Textbook:

ADMINISTRATIVE
MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Administrative
Medical Assisting provides training in medical office procedures,
medical records, switchboard, reception, cashiering, office
management, public
relations and prepares the student for a job
in medical office management. The student will also gain
instruction and training in medical terminology and basic anatomy
using a system-by-system approach. Takes 2 ten-week sessions to

BUILDING CODES
Learn
codes that pertain to one and two family homes. First session will
cover building codes. Second session covers plumbing, mechanical and
electrical codes. Class is for any one that is interested in
learning the international codes on one and two family homes for

BUILDING
YOUR OWN WEB PAGE
This
introductory class will provide you with the basics and will walk you
through the process of building your own web page. Netscape software
will be utilized as the web editor and instruction on HTML will be
included with this course. No
textbook required.
CAKE
DECORATING
Learn
the art of cake decorating from basic borders to elegant roses; this
course will help you master the decorating skills you need to create
beautiful cakes for your friends, your family, or even for profit.

CLINICAL
MEDICAL ASSISTANT
This
class provides training and skills needed for the medical office.
You will learn laboratory procedures such as: urinalysis,
venipuncture and blood glucose; how to take vital signs; how to
assist with minor surgery, including the care of instruments and how
to run an EKG and mount results. Takes 3 ten-week sessions to
complete. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology or equivalent medical

COOKING
Intro
cooking class, learn the basics and how to create fabulous meals.
This is a class to take again and again, because different recipes
and cuisines will be explored each semester. Fall 2007: True Italian
DIGITAL PHOTO EDITING
Now
that you have a digital camera or scanner, learn how to edit the
pictures. This class will teach you how to fix image “mistakes”
(such as red-eye), combine several pictures into one, remove unwanted
parts of pictures, restore old faded or damaged pictures, optimize
pictures for email and more. The class uses PhotoShop but we discuss
other program options and many of the skills learned with PhotoShop
will apply to other software packages. A basic knowledge of using a
computer is recommended.
EXCEL
Level I
Create
a basic worksheet by entering text, values, and formulas. Create
formulas by using Excel’s built-in functions. Move and copy data by
using shortcut menus, drag-and-drop editing and toolbar buttons.
Change the appearance of worksheet data by using a variety of
formatting techniques. Prepare a document for printing by using the
spell checking feature and a variety of printing options. Use the
three-dimensional aspect of the Excel workbook environment by
creating formulas that refer to cells on multiple worksheets. Save
Excel workbooks. A Windows course or equivalent experience is a
prerequisite for this course.
EXCEL Level II
Create
a chart. Compare chart sheets with embedded charts. Modify charts.
Print a chart. Learn to add and format graphic objects. Work with
lists. Sort data by learning to use single-level sorting and multiple
sorting and multiple-level sorting. Filter a list. Filter using
custom criteria and multiple-condition criteria. Use the AutoCorrect
feature. Learn how to use the Find and Replace feature. Explore
Excel’s built-in functions in more detail. Prerequisite: Excel I or
equivalent experience.
GERMAN
This
class will explore German grammar, culture, and importance in today’s
world. Emphasis will be on learning to speak sufficient German in
order to communicate with native speakers, in addition to learning to
read basic German texts.
GUITAR
Using classroom
and individual instruction, this course, for beginners, will serve as
an introduction to the guitar, mandolin and banjo and its various
roles in music. You will learn cording, picking, basic melodies and
some fundamentals of music. 6

HOW TO FLIP A HOUSE
How
to find, finance, fix, and flip bargain houses for profit. Explore
fresh ideas for fixing up houses using techniques that make houses
simply irresistible to buyers.
HVAC
A
refrigeration course designed to develop an understanding of the
compression cycle and its components. Students learn proper use and
care of tools, parts, and equipment used in refrigeration. Become
familiar with different kinds of metering devices, evaporators, and
condensers. Competencies
required
to work in HVAC will be covered and employment opportunities will be
addressed. This course takes 3 ten-week sessions to complete.

ICD-9/CPT-4
MEDICAL INSURANCE CODING
This
course provides instruction for completing CPT and ICD-9-CM coding
for the medical office. It includes the rules for filing insurance
claims and basic guidelines for insurance carriers. Student will be
required to provide their own ICD-9 and CPT Coding books for this
class. Perquisite- Medical Terminology I & II.
Takes 2 ten week sessions to complete.

INTERIOR DECORATING
Subject
matter geared for homemakers wanting to improve appearance of home or
strong introduction for the individual looking for entry-level
position in the job market. Elements and principals of design, color
and psychology of color, floor plans, space planning, wall coverings,
floor and flooring, furniture selection and placement, historic
influences and preservation, window treatments, fabrics, household
textiles and linens, accessories, art, environmental considerations-
“sick house”, and remodeling. No

INTRODUCTION
TO PERSONAL COMPUTERS
Designed
for the beginning computer user, this course will provide you with
the basic skills you need to understand and use IBM-compatible
computers. You will be introduced to PC terminology, the basic
hardware components of a computer, and some of the different types of
software. You will learn how to turn a computer on and to shut the
computer down. During the class you will get “hands-on”
experience by using the Windows program and some of the fundamental
programs common to many computers. There are no prerequisites for

MEDICAL
TRANSCRIPTION
Provides
training and instruction in the transcription of medical dictation as
it relates to a broad range knowledge base required in a medical
office or hospital setting. Training tapes, transcribing units and
computer workstations provide the student with hands-on experience.
Long periods of sitting are expected in this medical setting.
Prerequisite: Medical Terminology I & II and computer knowledge.

MICROSOFT
OFFICE I and II
Comprehensive
Course including: Microsoft Access, Excel, Power Point, and Word.
This class will include a broad overview of the programs within the
Microsoft Office Suite. During the first 10 weeks, the students will
learn to use Microsoft Word-formatting text, paragraphs, pages; use
the spell check and grammar check; use the find and replace feature;
learn to set tabs and create tables. The students will also learn the
basic operation of the PowerPoint program. During the second 10 week
session, the students will learn to use Microsoft Excel-creating and
editing worksheets; basic math operations, such as entering formulas.
The students will also learn the basic operations of Microsoft
Outlook and a brief overview of Access. Book

NEC (NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODING)
The examination of
the current electrical codes for residential and industrial
applications. Classroom activities and some hands-on activities will
be applied. Textbook

OFFICE
SKILLS
The objective of the class is to provide practical,
up-to-date information to prepare students for working in an office
environment. Students will study information processing, telephone
procedures, record keeping, communication skills, and problem
solving. Career information and employability skills introduce
students to job opportunities and effective methods for pursuing
those opportunities.
PHARMACY
TECHNICIAN
The
purpose of this course is to teach students the proper use of drug
therapy for their specific medical conditions. A variety of duties
will be learned in order to ensure that delivery of the correct drug
to the correct patient occurs at all times. The pharmacy technician’s
duties are to assist licensed pharmacists. Other areas of study will
be drug classification, sterile product preparation, pharmacy law,
and other pharmacologic actions. Textbook:

PHLEBOTOMY
I & II
Learn
basic blood drawing techniques, including capillary sticks,
venipuncture and basic lab procedure. Includes the skills needed in
hospitals, doctor’s offices and plasma centers. Prerequisite:
Medical Terminology, or equivalent medical experience. Note: This
will only give you 40 classroom hours. The student will be
responsible for sticks and clinical hours required for national

PHOTOGRAPHY
This
is a basic level class. It will cover the manual operation of a
single lens reflex camera. The student will gain an understanding of
shutter speed, aperture, depth of field and other basic camera
functions and knowledge. By understanding these terms and how they
relate to composition, the student should feel more comfortable with
their camera and be able to produce better photographs. Miniature
cameras- 35mm type or digital. 8

SELLING ON EBAY
This class will focus on selling items on eBay. Learn to set up your eBay account and related PayPal account. Learn the procedures, restrictions, tips and techniques that will attract the most buyers. Pre-requisite: basic computer, internet, and email skills. You must have a valid email address and convenient access to the internet to be a successful seller.

SIGN LANGUAGE I
Teaches
the Syntax, vocabulary, and culture of those who are deaf and hard of
hearing. Approximately 100 signs will be acquired along with tools
for independent use of the language. Textbook:

SIGN
LANGUAGE II
This
is the second level of Sign Language and it will expand your
knowledge of syntax including the use of non-manual markers,
indexing, and a broader range of vocabulary. This class will give
the student the basis for improving their conversational skills with
the Deaf by learning about their culture. Prerequisite: Sign
Language I. Textbook:
Same as level 1. 6 weeks.
SPANISH I
The
language will be explored and will include the areas of
conversational Spanish. Greetings, directions, colors, numbers, etc.
will be included in this
beginning class. Also, some of the
history of the language will be taught along with exploring the
Hispanic culture. Textbook:

WELDING I
Covers safety aspects of welding.
Oxy-fuel welding, cutting, and brazing. Plasma arc cutting, Shielded
Metallic Arc Welding (stick welding). Partially covers Gas Metallic
Arc Welding (MIG-welding. *Fall and Spring Only.
WELDING II
Covers
review of safety aspects. Gas Metallic Arc Welding (MIG Welding and
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding ( TIG welding.) All welding processes
utilized during remainder of course. Prerequisite: Welding I. * Fall
and Spring Only.
WINDOWS XP
This
course will provide an overview of Windows XP. You will learn to
customize the desktop, create shortcuts, and use the Start Menu and
Taskbar. Much of the class is devoted to learning to use Windows
Explorer to manage files and directories and using common file
management techniques to create, rename, copy, move and delete files
and folders. The student will also learn to use the calculator,
Paint and WordPad. Some time will be spent on using the Internet to
download and copy files to directories on the hard drive. Textbook
available for purchase at office.
WOODCARVING
Students
will learn the proper use of their carving tools, sharpening
techniques, types of wood suitable for carving, various styles of
carving, history of carving, and will complete several projects
during the course. Students are required to have the following:
carving knife, Kevlar glove, thumb guard and strop, and others as the
class progresses. Carving blanks will also need to be purchased for
projects.
WORD Level I
Designed
for the novice, this course will introduce word processing using
Microsoft Word. After you learn to create, open, save, and close
documents, you will be taught to manipulate text using inserting,
selecting, deleting, moving, and copying techniques. Discussion of
tabs, margins, and text formatting will help you design professional
documents. Textbook
available for purchase at office.
WORD Level II
Building
on your basic Word skills, this course will teach you to use the mail
merge to create form letters and mailing labels. Advanced features
of Word, such as column and outline formatting, will also be
discussed. Explore the use of graphics within Word to create
illustrations and diagrams, and use templates to quickly create
standard documents. Basic use of Macros and AutoText will also be
explored. Prerequisite: Word or equivalent experience. Textbook
available for purchase at office.
YOGA
plus PILATES
Yoga
is for anyone of any age. You can work at your own pace and ability.
This class involves the practice of safety stretching, relaxing and
breathing. You will learn the philosophy of Yoga and will learn to
listen to your body and focus on what your body says. Benefits of
Yoga may include weight loss, better posture, circulation, digestion,
breathing, stress reduction and better balance. It may help increase
range of motion, builds strength, is good for your complex, and gives
you more energy. Do not eat one hour before class. Student
supplies own mat.
