Parents meet as a group to discuss a variety of topics related to child development and parenting issues. They also explore their role as their child's first and most important teacher. We require parents to participate in 10 hours per month of Parent Education Services. As pictured above, families meet at Even Start to talk & eat; eat & talk. The Even Start/ 21st C.C.L.C. has also devised and implemented a new parent education and parent/child interactive program called Thinking Outside the Book (T.O.T. Book). Our T.O.T. Book participants meet once per month at the Keystone Recreation Center to discuss parenting issues and concerns and to receive a packet of take-home materials centered around a quality child's book. The take-home packets are free of charge to all participants and include the child's book, a collection of activities to do with young children in conjunction with the book, and all materials needed to complete the activities. Pictured on the right is a Hispanic family; both parents are enrolled in E.S.O.L. Below is a Russian family also enrolled in E.S.O.L. |
