Fairmont
Technology
Fairmont's technology plan is an accumulation of ideas, and visions to prepare our students for the next century. The plan promotes the learner as a technological consumer and supplier. The master of technological skills will provide our students with additional opportunities both personally and professionally.
The goals of the staff development component of the plan:
To provide technical support to the staff as they learn and apply the skills needed to teach their students.
To enrich each staff member's own production of technological uses, for teaching and management of classroom activities.
To encourage teachers to access modules on the Internet to facilitate their professional development. (state goal)
The goals addressing curriculum and instruction for students are:
To demonstrate information management strategies and technical skills to effectively use technology resources in their learning.
To demonstrate skills as information seekers, navigators, evaluators, and effective communicators in applying and integrating various technologies in their learning and daily life.
To demonstrate creativity in the construction of new knowledge using technology resources.
To demonstrate personal and social responsibility as a technology user.
The goals of the facilities and equipment component are:
To provide the necessary and most up-to-date technology equipment that addresses the needs of the curriculum.
To designate resources that ensures the maintenance and up-keep of the existing equipment/software.
The Fairmont computer lab was upgraded in the fall of 2008 with the latest in computer technology.
Classroom teachers may schedule time during the week to use the lab for Accelerated Reader, SuccessMaker Math, Harcourt Math, internet research, or help students type assignments. The lab will also be used by after school tutoring sessions.
