Science Hill ROTC awarded prestigious recognition as Honor Unit with Distinction

All Science Hill ROTC Cadets have a shiny new gold star on their uniforms after earning the prestigious recognition of being named an Honor Unit with Distinction.

The honor is the highest rating an Army JROTC unit can receive and they earned the honor after receiving a score of 98 out of 100 on their national inspection.

“I couldn’t be more proud of them, every single one of them,” Science Hill ROTC Senior Army Instructor Col. Michael Johnson (Ret.) said. “Every cadet tried hard, every cadet gave their best, which is not necessarily the norm. But these young men and women did a phenomenal job.”

Science Hill principal Todd Barnett, who acknowledged the cadets high-level of, awarded the cadets the gold stars.

“I’m as proud of you as any group here at Science Hill,” Barnett told the cadets who were standing at attention. “The standard you set, the standard you maintain and the way you conduct your business every day on this campus is remarkable. And you deserve this reward…Not only does it speak to you in terms of being an elite group at Science Hill, but this gold star represents being an elite group nation-wide.”
