  • There will be a mandatory meeting for any boy that is interesting in wrestling this season in Coach Miller’s room A209 on this Tuesday August 21st at 3:00 PM. Fall workout schedules will be given out along with details about the 2018-19 season schedule.

 

  •  Seniors with outstanding scholarship, leadership, service and character who are interested in scholarship competition at North Carolina State University need to see their counselor to submit a resume and gather additional information. The prestigious Park Scholarship (valued at $186,000) deadline is September 19th.

 

  • The SHHS counseling office is now accepting resumes for students that would like to apply for the Roan Scholars Leadership Program at East Tennessee State University. SHHS will nominate two students for this prestigious program.  The Roan Scholars is a premier scholarship program at East Tennessee State University for students from across our region who have demonstrated the potential and desire to become exceptional leaders.  The Roan provides funding for four years of tuition and fees, room and board, books and even opportunities to study abroad.   Seniors interested in being nominated must turn in their resume to their counselor no later than September 19th.

 

  • Attention students who are enrolled in any of the Health Science classes offered this school year, first or second semester, you are eligible to become a member of the HOSA club for future health professionals. Our first club meeting will be Thursday August 23rd immediately after school in Mrs. Mould’s room in the CTE building. Applications will be available then. Come to our meeting and find out what HOSA is all about!

 

  • Juniors and Seniors – Jostens Representatives will be in the Grand Topper Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 11:00-4:00pm to take Junior Class Ring Orders and Senior Cap/Gown/Graduation supply orders. If you need an order packet, please come by the Main Office or Attendance Office to pick one up.

 

  • Mu Alpha Theta will have an organizational meeting on Wednesday, August 22, in room A214 at 2:45.

 

  • All Baseball Players that are not currently in a fall sport please attend an information meeting on Tuesday August 21 in the New Gym classroom from 2:50-4:00 concerning pre-season fall workouts and other events coming up.   • Calling all Juniors who wish to be a National Merit Scholar. PSAT registration opens today during lunch in Mr. Wood’s office. The exam costs $20.00 and must be paid for at the time of registration. The PSAT will be offered on October 24th during the school day. The exam is open to all Junior and Sophomore students. However, any Junior who wishes to be considered for National Merit Scholarships must take this exam. Registration ends on August 24th. See, or email, Dr. Wood with any questions.

 

  • If anyone is interested in being part of the science hill newspaper please pick up an application located in the main office. Fill it out and turn it into the main office as soon as possible.
