AES Engineers Scholarship

The AES Engineers Scholarship ($500) is available for any student to attend the college of their choice. Students must submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page at: http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.php You do not have to be an engineering major to apply. Full details are available on the website. Deadline is Oct 6, 2019.

Carter Woodson Legacy Scholar

African American Juniors with financial need (household income of $40K or less) and a GPA of at least 3.25 that has demonstrated leadership and character should consider becoming a Carter Woodson Legacy Scholar nominee at Berea College. Berea students receive a tuition promise scholarship which means that students will receive a tuition free education at Berea. See your counselor and visit www.berea.edu for more info. Coolidge Scholar

Outstanding Juniors (seniors may NOT apply) that are interested in Public Policy and Public Service should consider applying to become a Coolidge Scholar.  Coolidge scholars receive a full tuition scholarship that includes all expenses to any 4 year college.  More information and the application can be found at:  www.coolidgescholars.org and applications must be completed by January 16,2020.

Dorothy Dean Mathematics Scholarship at UT-Chattanooga

The Dorothy Dean Mathematics Scholarship will insure that all tuition, fees, books, room and board for an in-state student are fully paid. The scholarship is renewable for the sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Eastman Black History Month Oratorical Contest

It is time once again for the Eastman Black History Month Oratorical Contest that provides local high school students an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of African American contributors to the academic disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). This contest also provides students an opportunity to improve their writing, communication, public speaking and leadership skills. Students selected as authors of the top 15 essays will be invited to the Annual Eastman Black History Month Luncheon held in January 2020, at the Eastman Lodge, 406 Bays Mountain Park Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. Each attending student will receive special recognition at the luncheon and will receive 2 tickets for their special guests to attend. The 1st place student will receive a $1,000 cash prize; 2nd place $500; 3rd place $300; and 4th and 5th place $250. The academic sponsor of each student in the top 15 will be invited to the luncheon and the academic sponsor of the 1st place student will receive a $100 gift card for his/her classroom. East Tennessee Foundation

Seniors: There are a variety of scholarships available for Washington County and Johnson City students available at www.easttennesseefoundation.org (including the $1500 Pride of the Hill Scholarship application). Deadline for Pride of the Hill and all other East TN Foundation Scholarships is February 15, 2020. Please go to the SHHS Counselors’ Canvas Page for more info or an application.

Elks Most Valuable Scholarship

The Elks Most Valuable Scholarship Application is now available. Seniors (U.S. Citizens only) who have demonstrated outstanding academics, community service and have financial need should apply for this scholarship. The Elks National Foundation additionally offers awards and grants to students whose parents or grandparents are members or were member of a local Elks Lodge as well as nursing scholarships and more. See your counselor for more information or go online to enf.elks.org/mvs. Deadline for the MVP Elks scholarship is November 5, 2019.

Jefferson Scholarship at UVA

Seniors with outstanding academics, leadership potential, and community service that are interested in being nominated for the Jefferson Scholarship at UVA must submit their resume to their counselor by November 14th. Jefferson Scholars are provided free tuition, room and board, a living stipend, and opportunities to study abroad. See your counselor for more information.

John Montgomery Belk Scholarship

The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship sponsored by Davidson College is available until November 1, 2019. The Belk Scholarship is Davidson’s most prestigious merit based program with a value of over$65,000 and stipends for study abroad. Students with outstanding intellectual ability and success, leadership experience, commitment to service and overall personal vigor must submit their resume to their counselor by Oct 21st to be considered for nomination. SHHS can only nominate two students for this prestigious scholarship.

Junior League of Johnson City Female Scholarship

The Junior League of Johnson City is offering a $2000 scholarship to a female with outstanding community service, leadership, and a 3.0 GPA that plans on attending a local 4 year university. More details and an application are in the registrar’s office (room 527).

Kids’ Chance of TN

Kids’ Chance of TN is offering scholarships of varying amounts to a student that has had a parent/guardian suffer a catastrophic, permanently disabling or fatal injury pursuant to the TN Worker’s Compensation Act. Levine Scholars Program

Students interested in the Levine Scholars Program at UNC – Charlotte should submit a resume to their counselor by Oct 3rd, 2019 in order to be considered for nomination. UNC – Charlotte will select fifteen students that will be awarded full tuition, room and board, a new laptop, along with four summer experiences. Students with a commitment to community service, intellectual curiosity, and the capacity for ethical leadership should consider applying.

Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship at UT-Chattanooga

The Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship and provides $2,000 in the freshman year and $1,000 in each of the sophomore, junior, and senior years.

Park Scholarship

Seniors with outstanding scholarship, leadership, service and character who are interested in scholarship competition at North Carolina State University need to see their counselor to submit a resume and gather additional information regarding the Park Scholarship. The deadline to submit your resume for this prestigious scholarship (valued at $186,000) is October 1st.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award

Any student 9-12 who has outstanding community service should consider applying for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. Go to http://spirit.prudential.com to access the online application. November 5th is the deadline to apply. Past state winners for Science Hill have included Girl Scout Eagle Award recipients and Eagle Scouts, but anyone with outstanding community service should apply.

Rollins Scholars Program

UT-Chattanooga is proud to offer the Rollins Scholars Program to incoming high achieving freshman interested in pursuing a Business major. SHHS PTSA Scholarship

Have you made a difference in your community? Do you enjoy volunteering? Have you had a positive impact on your school? If so, then the SHHS PTSA scholarship might be for you! The recipient of this scholarship will receive a $1000.00 scholarship to be used for educational expenses at an accredited, not-for-profit college, university, vocational, or trade school of his or her choice. Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship

The Sigma Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship (2000 dollars, 1000 dollars, and 500 dollars) is available for seniors attending UT-Knoxville. Tennessee Concrete Association Scholarship

The Tennessee Concrete Association is offering a scholarship (up to $250) and entries must be submitted by January 24th, 2020. Westbrook Scholarship

Seniors that are planning on attending UT-Chattanooga and majoring in Chemistry or Physics should apply for the Westbrook Scholarship. This scholarship is for $14,000 over a 4 year period. Students must have earned an A or B in high school chemistry or physics, be accepted into UTC for the Fall 2020 semester, a 3.5 GPA, a 26 or higher ACT (1170 SAT), and declare as a Chemistry or Physics major. Admissions deadline is Feb 1st for UTC and scholarship deadline is Feb 14th, 2020.
