Deadline Extended for Families to Apply for COVID-19 Food Assistance
Families across Tennessee still have time to apply for an important program designed to help support them through the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) has extended the deadline to apply for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program until Monday, July 13 at 4:30 P.M. Central Time.

Please complete all required information and submit to the office of your school of choice. The application window is from May 1- May 29. To download the form, please click here.
New Enrollees for 2020-2021
If you are enrolling a new student for the 2020-2021 school year, please contact the school in your zone. To find the elementary school in your zone, please click here. All 5th and 6th-grade students attend Indian Trail Intermediate School. All 7th and 8th-grade students attend Liberty Bell Middle School, while all high school students attend Science Hill.
If you have a child who will be eligible for PreK for the 2020-21 school year, please go ahead and call your school’s home office and leave your name, address, phone number, along with your child’s name and child’s birthdate. If there is no answer, please leave a message. School staff will contact you at a later date.
New Tuition Students: Applications will be accepted via e-mail or US mail beginning May 1, 2020.
Applications for a new tuition student will be accepted for the following school:
- 9 - 12: Science Hill High School

After applications have been received, they will be reviewed and awarded on space availability.
Student(s) of Teachers employed by the Johnson City Schools System (New Students):
- Children will be allowed to attend the school where their parent teaches.
- If the parent teaches at Indian Trail, Liberty Bell, or Science Hill High School, the elementary student will attend North Side Elementary.
Existing Tuition Students:
Applications need to be submitted no later than May 29, 2020 by 4:00 p.m.

Students entering 7th grade
The Tennessee Department of Health requires students entering the 7th grade to show proof of the Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis booster (“Tdap”). Parents must provide documentation of this immunization on an official Tennessee Certificate of Immunization. This documentation can be faxed directly to the Office of Health Services at 423-218-0544 or delivered to the office at Indian Trail Intermediate School by May 22. Please contact your primary care physician or the Johnson City/Washington County Health Department (423-975-2200) to schedule an appointment. Students will not be able to attend the first day of 7th grade without this documentation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Office of School Nurses at 423-232-5380.

Two middle schools concept plan
During their August 26 meeting, the Johnson City Board of Education approved the concept plan to pursue the transition to two 6-8 middle schools in Johnson City.
