Math Recommended PathMATH: 4 CREDITS INCLUDING ALGEBRA 1, GEOMETRY, ALGEBRA 2, AND A HIGHER MATH (STUDENT MUST BE ENROLLED IN A MATH EVERY YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL)
Notes: Any 9th Grade student who has a goal of taking AP Calculus AB or BC must take Geometry and Algebra 2 by the end of their sophomore year (For Calculus BC the student needs to take Algebra 2 Honors). AP Calculus AB can be taken after successful completion of Pre-Calculus 1 with a recommendation of Pre-Calculus 2. AP Statistics or Statistics can be taken any time after Algebra 2 and can be taken concurrently with Pre-Calculus 1. Dual Enrollment Statistics may be taken at Science Hill. To qualify the student must have completed Algebra 2, have a GPA of at least 3.2 (A GPA of 3.0 or greater qualifies the student for an additional scholarship), and have at least an ACT composite score of 19 with a minimum of 19 on the Math, Reading, and English subsections. Bridge Math is designed for seniors who have scored below 19 on the ACT Math to help better equip them for post-secondary academic work or for the work force. Students are placed into this course for their senior math course based on the ACT criteria. Students who have scored 19 or better on the Math portion of the ACT should choose one of the other math courses listed under the 12th grade in the schematic above.
