A Message from the Principal
Dear Indian Trail Families,
Welcome to Indian Trail Intermediate School! We are excited to begin a new school year and 2019/2020 is shaping up to be the best year yet! This year, we will continue to establish a strong culture and climate while remaining focused on providing every student access to high quality instruction.
To kick off the new year and encourage reading, students will be participating in the ITIS Reading Competition. Each quarter, students will have an opportunity to compete with other teams in their grade level. The goals and activities used to compete will change throughout the school year.
This nine-weeks, the competition will be based on the total number of minutes read. The PTA will be sponsoring the event and will be providing a celebration for the winning 5th and 6th grade teams! Students are really excited about this competition so please encourage your child to read and complete activities in the Whooo’s Reading program. We can’t wait to tally the minutes read!
Thank you for continuing to support your child’s education! Dr. James Jacobs, Principal
Indian Trail Intermediate School
WELCOME LETTER FROM THE PTA PRESIDENT
My name is Jennifer Hollinger and I am happy to be serving as your PTA President for the 2019-2020 school year. This year, I have the privilege of working with a wonderful group of committed Officers and Chairpersons on our PTA board, and look forward to seeing what amazing things we can accomplish in partnership with our faculty, staff, students, and families. Whether you are a returning family or new to our school, we are so glad you have you as part of the Indian Trail community, and hope you are finding your place and enjoying all that our amazing school has to offer.
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a non-profit organization run totally by volunteers. The purpose of PTA is “To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children”. We work with our principal, vice principals, teachers, and support staff to provide enrichment for our students beyond what is in the regular curriculum. The PTA supports and/or funds numerous school activities, programs, field trips, faculty luncheons, and works to serve our students in need.
We would love for every parent and family member to become an involved member of our PTA. Whether that means you choose to serve on one of our many committees, or simply just become a member by paying our $5 per person dues. A portion of the $5 dues directly benefits your child and our school through the many supplies, resources, and programs our PTA offers. Beyond membership, supporting our PTA’s ongoing fundraising efforts throughout the year awards us the opportunity to continue to provide these wonderful enrichment experiences for the students. We are always looking for volunteers to help in various ways, so please don’t hesitate to contact a board member to get more information about ways you can help.
Our Box Top collection drive is already underway for this school year, the program has gone electronic this year and is easier than ever to collect points for our school which ultimately rewards us with money we can use for our many programs. Please ask your family and friends to help by selecting our school as their school of choice for their electronic box tops, it is a simple as one click.
Also, keep an eye out for upcoming information about our upcoming Walk-a-thon and other fundraisers that will offer you easy opportunities to help make a big difference! We hope that as we continue to settle into this new school year, your children are already diving into their classes with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn all they can. We strive to make your child’s learning experience the best it can possibly be, and hope that you will partner with us as we work to make this happen. Be sure to stay up to date on all the exciting ITIS news and happenings on the Indian Trail Intermediate School PTA Facebook page, and please be sure to participate as much as you can!
Your 2019-2020 PTA President, Jennifer Hollinger
Upcoming Faculty Appreciation Luncheons

Box Tops For Education
Our Box Top collection is ongoing. Our numbers are down this year. Please clip and send those Box Tops in! Each Box Top is money for our school.
Attention 6th Grade Parents and Guardians: Vaccine Booster Records are needed for Liberty Bell. Tennessee law requires all rising 7th graders to have a second chicken pox (varicella) shot as well as a TdaP booster. What you might not know is that each parent/guardian must provide documentation to LBMS. This information must be submitted to Liberty Bell before your child can start school in August. For additional information, you can contact your healthcare provider, local health department, or go to the official tn.gov website.
Indian Trail has been so blessed by the donations we have received this year for Anna’s Closet! The recent sock drive was a huge success and we have plenty of socks for anyone in need. I would like to say a special thanks to all of the parents and grandparents who have volunteered their time to help in the closet this
year. It is a big job to keep the closet organized and ready to be used by the students and staff, and we could not have done it without your help! If you have any questions about Anna’s Closet, please email
