A Message from the Principal

Dear Indian Trail Families,

Spring is a very busy time for us here at Indian Trail Intermediate School!  Over the coming weeks, we will be we celebrating our student’s accomplishments and preparing for the TNReady/TCAP testing.  Our 6th grade students are eagerly anticipating the upcoming tours to Liberty Bell Middle School.   In addition, we will be welcoming 4th graders to Indian Trail for their fifth grade orientation.   Please be on the lookout for these important dates!

This spring also marks the time when we administer the annual school climate survey. Provided by the Tennessee Department of Education, this survey helps us gather information about school engagement, school environment, and school safety at Indian Trail Intermediate.  This survey is extremely important because it provides feedback from parents, students, and teachers. Our leadership team will use these results and turn them into actionable items to improve our school.  With the help of ITIS families and faculty, we can continue to learn, grow and ultimately provide students with an environment that fosters success.

Go Hawks!

Dr. James Jacobs, Principal

ITIS PTA President’s Message

Spring is just around the corner and I know everyone can’t wait for our upcoming break from March 16th 20th! As our last quarter of the school year approaches, our minds jump to summer and even to the next school year. We wonder what it will be like when our child enters the next grade. Before you move on to the next year, please remember we still need your help. As PTA President, I really want to say “Hold on, we have lots of exciting things still happening and we can’t do it without you!” The many things left to do are on the school calendar and will be shared throughout these last 9 weeks on our Facebook page, the include our Spirit Week, Coin Wars, Restaurant Fundraiser evenings and Field Day.

Now, if I could jump ahead to the 2020-2021 school year, along with everyone else, I’d like you to consider one thing…your willingness to serve as part of the ITIS PTA.  If you are a PTA member I know you are willing but where and how do you want to serve?   Have you thought about what you might do as a leader of our PTA?  Some leadership roles take more time than others, but we have spots that only require a little effort throughout the year as well. Did you know that there are other leadership roles that allow to you to serve according to your own availability?  Not every role requires you to be at school every day and to serve hours upon hours. To be honest at ITIS there is no role that is to time consuming, not even President! Our world is busy and our PTA is keeping up with the times and has loads of flexible positions for leaders.

If you want to be part of the Executive Committee of the ITIS PTA Board, you can consider serving as Treasurer, Secretary, or President-Elect.  Our Nominating Committee is working hard to fill these positions now.  Are you willing to serve in this way?  If so, please let me know of your interest and I will share it with the committee.  Having been asked to consider what I could offer each year has helped me as I’ve served in other organizations and non-for-profits in our community. It has taught me that it is ok to say “I am interested”. I think we often feel when you are new to the school or feel like we have been around too long to think we are uncomfortable to step up and say “I am interested” or “I am willing to serve”. It’s okay to speak up and say you will lead in PTA.

I hope to see many of you at our upcoming Spirit Night Fundraisers at local restaurants over the next 2 months. Our first one will be on Monday, March 9th, 2020 at Chick-Fil-A on People’s street, followed by evenings in April and May at Petro’s and Freddy’s. Please come out and support our school and the PTA, all funds raised will go back to our kids and teachers. Don’t forget to send in your coins for the coin wars that starts on March 9th as well!

For those of you who are currently serving on the ITIS Board, I want to give all of you a huge "THANK YOU" shout out. Each and every one of you has worked so hard this year, helping ensure all of our PTA committees accomplish what is needed for our students and teachers at ITIS. It wouldn't be possible to do so much at ITIS without your help and dedication. I know the school year is not yet over and many of you still have lots to do, please reach out if you need help and know that you are appreciated!

Enjoy your Spring break and I look forward to a great finish to the 2019-2020 school year!

Help PTA raise money for our school!   This is how it works:

Monday 3/9 ~ Pennies and Mad Hair Monday (the crazier the better!)

Tuesday 3/10 ~ Nickels and Twister Tie Dye Day

Wednesday 3/11 ~ Dimes and Wacky Wednesday (mismatched or backwards clothes)

Thursday 3/12 ~ Quarters and Throwback Thursday (dress from a previous decade)

Friday 3/13 ~ Dollars and School Spirit Day (wear maroon and gold or ITIS shirts)

ITIS Spirit Wear will be sold in the cafeteria during lunch daily from Monday March 9th till Wednesday March 11th
