Johnson City Schools accepting nominations for second Hall of Fame Class
Johnson City Schools is accepting nominations for the second Johnson City Schools’ Hall of Fame class. Nominations will be accepted from February 1 to May 1, 2020. This year’s ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020. The goal of the Johnson City Schools Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those educators, alumni, and contributors who have made significant impacts in progressing Johnson City Schools.
The Johnson City Schools Hall of Fame was established in 2019 and welcomed 20 inaugural members last August. Click here to view the inductees.
“The inaugural event was a great success, as we honored a group who had a tremendous impact on Johnson City Schools,” Johnson City Schools Superintendent Dr. Steve Barnett said. “Johnson City Schools has a long list of exceptional individuals and we look forward to having the opportunity to honor another class this year. We invite the community to nominate former educators, alumni, and contributors and we hope they will join us as we celebrate their achievements and induction.”
Nomination forms can be found at www.JCschools.org/HallofFame. The deadline for nominations will be May 1, 2020. The second class will consist of 10 members.
To be eligible for the Johnson City Schools Hall of Fame, a person must have been employed with Johnson City Schools for 10 years, be a graduate of Johnson City Schools or a contributor to the school system for at least 10 years.
Those nominees will be broken down into three categories that will align with their retirement/graduation year. Those categories coincide with different eras for the district, including Legacy (Retired/Graduated Pre-1971), Tradition (Retired/Graduated 1971-2000) and Modern (Retired 2001-Present).
