Minutes of the Mountain View PTA Board meeting Wednesday, September 23 at Mountain View School Present: Heidi Kinch, Cindy Poole, Anne Littleford, Wendy Graham, Mary Ellen Miller
Meeting was called to order by PTA President Heidi Kinch at 6 PM.
Mary Ellen read the minutes of the 8/26/09 meeting Heidi called for a motion to approve the minutes of the prior Mountain View PTA meeting. A motion was made by Anne Littleford to approve the minutes of the 8/26/09 Mountain View PTA meeting. The motion was seconded and approved by the PTA board.
PTA Membership: Cindy reported that we have 91 PTA members compared to 55 last year. Mountain View gets $1 of the $4 charge. The remaining $3 goes to Council, State and National Dues.
Friday morning school-wide breakfast: Mary Ellen will work to recruit new PTA members. A table will be set up in the lobby along with a poster. Cindy provided $17 in seed money to make change from her membership envelopes.
Wal-Mart card: Wendy says this needs to be updated next time we go there
Website: At other schools PTA minutes are posted on the school website. How do we do this? Dr. Littleford to check into this.
Committee chairs: Dr. Littleford- faculty/staff liaison Dr. Walk – principal Citizenship chair- Ms. White Reflections- Ms. Pasqua
Volunteers are needed for various positions. Heidi will review the list of people who said they want to volunteer. Some discussed were:
Donation Coordinator- box labels and Pizza Inn
Fundraiser Coordinator
Reflections (Cultural Arts) Coordinator: This year’s theme: “Beauty is”
Safety Poster Coordinator: This year’s theme is “I am cyber safe when…”
Each child may participate, and if they are unable to purchase poster boards, the PTA will have some on hand to distribute. It was suggested Mountain View have an all school meeting with Barto the fire dog to recognize the safety poster winners. Top prize winners are recognized locally with the potential to be recognized state-wide.
Yearbook Coordinator: Around the same time as spring fling within a 30 day window. The board discussed ordering a soft rather than hard cover book this year to curb expenses. Walk-a-thon: Possibly instead of a fall or spring festival.
Treasury: Cindy Poole, Wendy Graham and the former treasurer will meet at Regions bank at 9 AM Thursday to switch check signing authority. Dan Miller, our treasurer, will go there Friday. Insurance- due by October 2
Emergency lunch fund: Discussion about the importance of this to the school. Two checks that Wendy received will be transferred to the lunch fund
Communications: Mary Ellen to check the PTA mail box in the office regularly for money to go to Dan Miller and other communications.
Cookie Dough: Need agreement to get the money before delivery. 40% of the fundraiser goes to the school. Mr. Pollack will invoice us for the remaining 60% which goes to his company.
Budget: The board reviewed the budget line by line. A motion was made by Anne Littleford to pass the proposed budget. The motion was seconded and approved by the PTA board. The budget will be presented to the PTA on Oct.8, 2009. Prior to that it will be on display at the school.
