We are excited about learning at North Side!!
In the tech lab all students (K-5th)
utilize the "Jumpstart" and "Roller Typing" software to
enhance their skills! We have recently started using a NEW web-based
program, Education City. We are extremely excited about

 Our computer
lab currently hosts 20 computer stations on a local network with printing and Internet capabilities. All students at North Side have one hour of computer/technology enrichment in their weekly schedule. In addition, the lab is available for teachers and their students to use during the learning block.

 Alpha Smarts are wireless word processors that allow students to enter and edit text, then send it to any computer for formatting or directly to a printer. Its portability allows students to use it anywhere and anytime. They may be used in any classroom in any capacity. We currently have three mobile sets, each with its own remote printer. The first and largest of the sets is the cart that houses twenty. The remaining sets are bundled as two groups of five. Any teacher may reserve these sets to reinforce creative writing and language arts.

 The computer lab is home to our mobile "Computer On Wheels." The C.O.W. is a complete system inclusive of projector, white board and sketch pad capabilities. In conjunction with the interactive White Board, students will become engaged in learning through the latest in classroom and presentation technology. The C.O.W. has been used for teaching instruction, student presentations, brainstorming and problem solving strategies. Its possibilities are endless! In most aspects, it replaces the traditional chalkboard and dry-erase board. It exceeds their capability allowing full color and animation as well as saved and prepared documents. What a way to learn!

 Technology
is one of our highest priorities at North Side. As such,
we are preparing for the future. We have a wireless
network in place that is fully active. It spans the
school grounds and can be accessed from almost anywhere
inside.

|
One of our most exciting plans to utilize the wireless
network at North Side, is the incorporation of a wireless lab. The
wireless lab consists of twenty plus laptop computers that will have mobile capabilities to anywhere in the school for enhanced learning in every classroom.
