Jim Wallin Fleming recalls Jim and I were like brothers. I lived on Highland Avenue and he lived on Lamont, just right across the alley way from me, and we were just buddy-buddy all the time. Jim could really run those hurdles good. He and I were good friends; we were deep friends. Jim was competitive, but he was as good-natured as he could be. I thought the world of him. Law, that's been years and years and years ago. He asked me a few questions about the hurdles, and I just answered the best I could and let him take off from there. Mr. Wallin and Mrs. Wallin were very close to me. His dad was a bigshot in the county somewhere; I don't know what his title was. Mrs. Wallin was just a sweet mother.
