Science Hill High School
Student Government Association
The SGA is a student organization in charge of student activities. They plan, organize, and implement community service projects, school service projects, pep rallies, Homecoming, SGA dances, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Junior/Senior Prom, and Yearbook Signing Day.
SGA is made up of four campus wide senior officers, four senior, junior, sophomore, freshmen, and eighth grade class officers and representatives. Students may pick up applications in April to run for a SGA office for the next school year.
The goal of SGA is for the most qualified students to fully utilize their abilities and influence to make Science Hill a community of excellence. In order to reach that goal, students must meet the following guidelines:
§ Submit a completed application by the deadline.
§ Minimum GPA (cumulative) of 3.0 for 10/12 students. Minimum Term Average of 3.0 for 8/9 students.
§ No suspensions for any reason during the current school year.
§ 9th Grade President candidates and Campus Wide President candidates MUST have served on SGA previously.
§ Campus Wide Officer candidates must be interviewed by SGA advisors in April before the election and have an interview score of 18 or higher.
§ Teacher evaluations will be sent to all teachers in the current school year. Teacher evaluation average score must be 18 or higher.
§ No arrest record.
§ If removed from office for ANY reason the student is not eligible to run for office the following year.
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Each year the Student Government Association coordinates the collection and distribution of food to needy student families within the Science Hill High School student population. Approximately 80 families will receive enough food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a complete Thanksgiving dinner. A student assembly will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Freedom Hall so students can see the amount of food collected prior to the delivery.
