Expectations: Students will learn work habits and responsibility for materials, class work, and homework. The emphasis is on reading, comprehension, language arts, and mathematics. About Second Grade: Second grade is a year of experience working independently and as a team member. It is a transitional year in which students strive to solidify basic skills and prepare to apply these skills in other areas. We incorporate problem solving and conflict resolution into daily activities. Special Curriculum/Projects: Students get excited about thematic units. We do hands-on activities with communities, environment, space, weather, Native Americans, Appalachia, animals and habitats, and many others.
