JCS Fine Arts Information (Grades 5-12)

Fine Arts Information

Johnson City Schools understands and appreciates the benefits of students' exposure to fine arts. This year has been difficult for our fine arts programs, but we are hopeful that will be better during the 2021-2022 school year. We have created this resource for our families to find information about our fine arts offerings. For more information about the Fine Arts programs please see below or reach out to the teacher listed.

Performance

The Choral Department of Science Hill High School will have its spring concert on Friday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the Science Hill Fine Arts Auditorium.  This concert will recognize choir seniors and choral students who were designated as All-East and All-State Honors Choir members this year.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Summer Strings Camp

Is your child entering 5th, 6th or 7th grade, and interested in joining the Johnson City Schools Orchestra Program? This summer, Johnson City Schools is offering a summer music camp experience for your child that will combine two of your child’s favorite things — music and FUN!

Our Summer Strings! Beginning Strings Camp will give future musicians a chance to hear and play all the instruments available in beginning strings class, and will help them choose which ones are just right for them!

The camp will be June 14 - 18, 2021 in the Auditorium at Indian Trail Intermediate School.

Come be a part of a performing arts group that loves to sing, dance, and act! This class is a year-long class that meets every day for 45 minutes. In the chorus, you will sing fun songs and learn important performing skills. We perform two concerts a year (usually one of those is a musical) and we perform outside school at a variety of community events. Please click here for more information.

One of the best ways to make the transition to middle school is to be involved in a group. Students in the choral program talk about the "family" atmosphere in our classes. Fill out this Google Form Link to join the family!
