Guy Mauldin

For many students, having Guy Mauldin as a math teacher was a rite of passage. Mauldin recently “semi-retired” after spending 44 of his 60 years teaching at Science Hill. Mauldin is still teaching part-time at the school and has been involved in the nationwide mathematics community as a trainer of teachers for the College Board pre-calculus program and the AP Calculus program.

Besides his work as a teacher at Science Hill, Mauldin was an Advanced Placement reader for the AP Calculus program for 25 years and a member of the development committee that wrote the exams for four years.  In addition, he has served on the AP commission creating the course as it currently exists.

He has consulted for several textbook companies and written articles that were published in professional journals.  He has had leadership roles that include serving as president of the Council of Presidential Awardees. His other awards include The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching and Tandy's Champion of the Classroom.
