Communications

The district and individual school websites will be the hub of communications for all Johnson City Schools. All information that affects the entire school or district will be communicated through district and school web pages. The district website URL is www.jcschools.org. All school web page URLs are schoolname.jcschools.org. The website can be translated to multiple languages by clicking the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner. 

Each school’s phone number can be found at the bottom, left-hand side of their school's home page.

Each employee of Johnson City Schools has a professional email ending with @jcschools.org. JCS employees are expected to maintain their email, and to use it as an effective communication tool for dialogue between students, families and the community.

Johnson City Schools pushes out a monthly JCS staff newsletter on the Wednesday following a Board of Education meeting and a community newsletter on the Friday following a Board of Education meeting. Additionally, each school sends a newsletter to the families on at least a monthly basis that will highlight announcements, upcoming events and other important information.

ParentSquare is new for the 2024-2025 school year.  Parents will receive an invitation to their email that will link them to their student and classes.  ParentSquare is the ONLY approved communication platform for Johnson City Schools, and should be used by all teachers, support staff, extracurriculars and athletic teams.  If you have questions or need support, please contact Collin Brooks.

The district maintains and operates a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, as well as a district YouTube account. Families are encouraged to follow the district accounts @JCityTNSchools for updates, news and information. Most of our Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) also have Facebook pages, which are maintained by the PTAs.

Canvas is our learning management system (LMS) which is used by students and teachers for instruction and materials. Parents are able to log in as observers, which allows them to keep up with their student’s progress. Students and observers will also receive any announcements that are sent. STOPit provides access to an anonymous, comfortable way for you to share information so that you can provide or get help as quickly as possible. Use the STOPit mobile app to anonymously report incidents to your school. Reporting is completely anonymous. You can include text, images or video.  An icon can also be found on each home page.
