Student safety is our highest priority at Science Hill High School and we feel the three designated pick-up and drop-off locations minimize student exposure to vehicle traffic while allowing them to be in close proximity to their classes and gathering spaces.

There are three drop-off and pick-up locations at Science Hill High School. The three locations include Topper Lane (see yellow arrows on map), the Main Office/Library (see red arrows on map) and the New Gym (see green arrows on map). All three of these drop-off and pick-up locations are one way during arrival and dismissal.

Tips to avoid problems during AM Drop-Off

  1. For a.m. drop-off, the highest traffic volume around Science Hill occurs between 7:20 a.m. to 7:35 a.m. You can usually avoid most slowdowns in traffic by dropping your student off between 7 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. Grand Topper Hall opens at 7 a.m. Students can get tutoring help, go to the Library, meet with their friends, work on homework, grab some breakfast, or just relax prior to going to class at 7:30 a.m.
  2. Use right turns when at all possible. Right turns minimize the necessity to cross lanes of oncoming traffic and helps traffic move more smoothly.

Tips to avoid problems during PM Pick-Up

  1. Please make every effort to avoid arriving on campus prior to the 2:45 p.m. scheduled dismissal. Parking is limited and additional vehicles parked along the side of our roads and curbs tend to create additional slowdowns at dismissal as well as create an unsafe situation should emergency vehicles need to come on campus.
  2. Mass dismissal occurs at Science Hill from 2:45 p.m. until approximately 2:52 p.m. At that time all buses and most student drivers are leaving campus. By 2:55 most vehicle traffic has left campus. Picking your student up between 2:55 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the designated areas will likely result in minimal wait times and a much easier exit from campus.

Again, student safety is our highest priority. We will continuously seek ways to improve all aspects of your child’s experience at Science Hill. Should you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at 423-232-2190.
