Wes Jones named interim head track coach at Science Hill High School

Science Hill High School has named Wes Jones as interim head track coach for the 2023-2024 school year. Jones currently serves as an assistant coach on the football team and driver's education teacher at Science Hill. Jones has 26 years of experience as a track and field coach.

“We are excited to bring Wes on to lead our program,” Science Hill Athletic Director Keith Turner said. “Wes has been a part of championship track teams during his time at Hardin Valley and we are confident that he will be able to lead our track and field program to new heights.” 

Jones joined the Science Hill football coaching staff in 2019. Jones was a member of the inaugural track and field staff at Hardin Valley when the school opened in 2009. There, he won multiple team sectional championships, including a state championship with the boy's team in 2012. Prior to joining Hardin Valley, Jones was at Austin East where the girl's team won a state championship in 2007 and the boys finished runner-up.

“I am excited and thankful for this great opportunity,” Jones said. “Science Hill has the potential to be a top-five track and field program in the state, and that is what we will begin to work toward. We have top-notch athletes and some of the best facilities in the state. We also have a very supportive community and I am looking forward to building our staff and getting to work.”
