A few familiar names highlight the Johnson City Schools Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The group will be honored during a ceremony on Saturday, September 14 at 10 a.m. inside the Science Hill auditorium.
This year’s class includes former Langston educator Eugene Caruthers, Bob “Snake” Evans (Class of 1954), Tom Hager (Class of 1963), Herb Greenlee (Class of 1973), Carol Transou (1992 Retiree), Dr. Richard Bales (2017 Retiree) and George Pitts (2001 Retiree).
“We are excited to recognize these individuals who played a pivotal role in getting Johnson City Schools to where we are today,” Johnson City Schools Superintendent Steve Barnett said. “We look forward to recognizing these individuals and thanking them for their contributions.”
The mission of the Johnson City Schools Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those educators, alumni and contributors who made significant impacts in progressing Johnson City Schools. In doing this, we hope to preserve the rich history of Johnson City Schools and establish a link to the past and present members of Johnson City Schools.
This is the third class of the Johnson City Schools Hall of Fame. This group will join 30 others who were inducted in the Class of 2019 and Class of 2020. The next Hall of Fame class will be inducted in 2026.
