Registration Open for Johnson City Schools Virtual Platform Spring Semester
The Johnson City Schools Virtual Learning program is currently accepting interest forms for the spring semester of the 2023-2024 school year. Submitting an interest form does not guarantee admission but is required to gain enrollment.
"The Johnson City Schools Virtual Learning Program is a great alternative to the traditional classroom learning environment and is ideal for students who are looking for greater flexibility,” said Johnson City Virtual Learning Program Coordinator Amy Davis. “While the program requires a high level of student autonomy and good self-management skills, the program allows students to have more control over when, where, and how long they work each day.”
Johnson City Schools has partnered with Pearson Virtual Schools to offer an academically rigorous course taught by certified Tennessee teachers. The fully online school teaches the same Tennessee state standards that all other schools in Tennessee use. However, the classes are mostly asynchronous, an alternative to the traditional in-person classroom experience that can provide students with flexible hours to better fit their needs. Teachers offer optional live sessions with small group interventions and individualized appointments. The program is through Science Hill High School and Liberty Bell Middle School, which allows students the opportunity to participate in in-person extracurricular activities, clubs and sports offerings.
