Stukes, Wood to transition to Central Office in Johnson City Schools

Johnson City Schools Superintendent Dr. Steve Barnett announced the transition of Dr. Melissa Stukes and Dr. Renee Wood to supervisor positions at Central Office. Stukes will assume the role of Supervisor of Special Programs, while Wood will step into the position of Elementary Supervisor, succeeding the retiring Dr. Robbie Anderson, who has served Johnson City Schools for more than five decades.

"I am pleased to announce the transition of Dr. Melissa Stukes and Dr. Renee Wood to supervisor positions at our Central Office," Barnett said. "Dr. Stukes' extensive experience as the principal of Mountain View Elementary positions her well to oversee our Special Programs. Similarly, Dr. Wood's tenure as principal at Lake Ridge Elementary makes her a great candidate to assume the role of Elementary Supervisor for our district."

Dr. Stukes has served as the principal of Mountain View Elementary since January 2014, following previous roles as an assistant principal and teacher within Johnson City Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Elementary Education from the College of Charleston, pursued her Master of Education from Lesley University in 2006, and completed her Doctor of Educational Leadership from ETSU in 2015.

Dr. Wood has been the principal at Lake Ridge Elementary since 2018, having previously served as an assistant principal at Mountain View and Lake Ridge during the 2017 school year. Before transitioning to administration, Dr. Wood taught at North Side Elementary from 2012 to 2017. She obtained her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Carson-Newman in 2022, alongside an Ed. S in Instructional Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University in 2017, a Master of Education from Milligan University in 2011, and a Bachelor of General Studies from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000.
